I'm very excited about the start of the 12 Months of Kindness Project - so thank you for stopping by to see what it is all about.
My husband and I started our commitment to completing 12 acts of kindness; one each month, five years ago after we got married (and yes! It will be our fifth wedding anniversary this year!) In my post-wedding planning blues, it took almost no time at all for me to realize that I was missing the community involvement that was so abundant when I was growing up through our high school clubs and college organizations. We were married and had occasional chances to get involved, but it felt like it was going to be pretty easy to slip into a routine of husband&wife isolation. So we created a list of 12 ways we wanted to give back during the year and stuck to it. And here we are five years later, still committed to it - and looking forward to each month!
Now that we've added kids and pets into the mix, we feel its even more important to complete our 12 months of kindness tasks. You know the saying, "The days are long but the years go by fast," and that is mostly how we feel on a regular basis. Our lives consistent of these never-ending days covered in dirty diapers, anticipating nap time, and cleaning up dog bones and toys. Our commitment to our 12 Months of Kindness is a chance each month to remind us to be grateful for this life we so luckily live everyday. The life that is so full of joy and happiness and smiling faces. The life that is also full of crazy and frustrations and obstacles - but still lucky to be able to try to overcome together.
As its the start of another year - we wanted to start this blog in hopes to inspire other individuals, couples, or families to start their own 12 Months of Kindness. I'm hoping to have the chance to share stories of kindness and gratitude with all of your through highlights sent to us from other folks that are using their gratitude for their life to give back to others. If you have a story (and pictures) to share - please email us at 12MoKP@gmail.com so that I can shine a spotlight on your act and hopefully inspire others into a movement of kindness and gratitude.
Thank you for stopping by!
